SnapStress for iPhone and Android · com.snapstress.app · updated 9 October 2026 (Scan added)

The SnapStress app is published by SnapStress (snapstress.com), Helsinki, Finland. It has no account, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics and no in-app purchase. This page covers the app; the website has its own privacy policy.

What leaves your phone

Nothing. The Snap Stress Test and Scan run entirely on your phone from a copy of the test that ships inside the app. The app sends no answers, scores or identifiers anywhere. It opens a web page only when you tap a link (for example "How the score works"), and that page is then governed by the website's policy.

What stays on your phone

Your results history: for each finished test, the date and time, your Snap Score, its band and your stress profile. Your individual answers are not kept. If you turn the weekly reminder on, the app also keeps the weekday and time you chose. All of it lives in the app's own storage. The Clear history button, clearing the app's storage, or uninstalling the app erases it. Because nothing is held anywhere else, there is nothing to request deletion of.

Camera (Scan)

The camera is used only on the Scan tab, and the app asks for camera permission only when you tap the scan target. A photo you take is read by an image model that runs on your phone (Google SigLIP 2, Apache-2.0), which names the three drinks or snacks it looks most like; the photo is deleted as soon as it has been read. Photos are never stored, uploaded or sent. Scan keeps a short list of recent scans on your phone — the item names you chose and when, never a photo — and your bedtime setting.

Notifications

The weekly retake reminder is a local notification scheduled on your phone. The app asks for notification permission only when you turn the reminder on, and you can turn it off in the History tab or in your phone's settings. No push token is created or sent.

Permissions

Camera, only when you tap the scan target. Notifications, only if you turn the reminder on. The app uses no microphone, location, contacts or health data.

Health information

SnapStress is about general wellbeing, not medical advice. The test describes a stress pattern you report; it does not measure hormones or diagnose anything. The method is published on How the score works.

Children

The app is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18.
